Trust That the Next Breath Will Come

Yesterday in  yoga class we were exploring breath. The teacher encouraged the group to pause for a moment between the exhale and the inhale. Not to hold the breath, just to consciously allow a rest in the stillness at the bottom of the breath. As the class experimented she offered this reassurance to anyone experiencing anxiety during that breathless moment…trust that the next breath will come. While I realize that the focus was supposed to be on the breath, and the space between the breaths, I indulged myself in allowing my mind to follow those words. Continue reading
